Jurell Cayetano ‘Postcards’

In Jurell’s first solo show, Postcards, his body of work concentrates on storytelling based on everyday experience. He uses an expressive color palette to bring liveliness to moments that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. The stories he tells focus on the lives of his peers and those around him, creating images that convey a sense of familiarity and comfort.
Jurell Cayetano (b. 1992) is an artist of Honduran and West Indian descent. Cayetano creates joyful post-impressionist portraits depicting peers from photo references. He uses pencils and paint to capture his subjects in a world full of bright and bold colors, creating narrative paintings characterized by naturalistic realism and laden with expression. The Brooklyn, NY born, Cayetano is a graduate of the New York School of Visual Arts. The artist lives and works in Atlanta.
